North Business Development Manager (Permanent solar lighting)

The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing sales in the North of the UK. The role is field-based and you will liaise closely with existing customers and be responsible targeting and developing sales with new customers. The role will include product demonstrations and presentations both face to face and online

Base
The BDM role will be based from home with occasional visits to our Head Office in Clevedon. The Clevedon office will provide the base for ongoing training and sales meetings

Overall Purpose

  • To manage and be responsible for all sales activities in the North that relate to the permanent fixed solar street light products
  • Promote, demonstrate and present the many USP’s of installing solar street lights vs mains powered street lights
  • Complete site surveys and work closely with the Prolectric design team to provide detailed lighting designs in-line with BS5489 lighting standards
  • To carry out any other duties as deemed necessary by the company.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the development and growth of new customers
  • To put the customer first, adopting appropriate levels of care and support
  • To ensure that the presentation of the company’s customer-facing staff and assets always give the most favourable impression.
  • To monitor and control business activity against clearly defined budgets to ensure targets are met.
  • To follow admin processes and paperwork required by the company including the CRM software and various social media platforms
  • To carry out tasks relating to, but not limited by the duties and responsibilities of the job role, as seen fit by the business.

Skills, knowledge and competencies required

  • The successful candidate is likely to be a seasoned professional sales or commercial person who can demonstrate a successful career of achievement within account management and business development.
  • Excellent communication skills both internally and externally
  • A good understanding of the permanent lighting industry and any experience in solar lighting or renewable energy would be beneficial but not essential
  • Extremely self-motivated with a hardworking and proactive approach.
  • Outgoing personality combined with an unselfish, team player mentality.
  • Strong level of numeracy, totally comfortable using a PC for communication, planning, forecasting, and presenting.
  • Results driven / a strong negotiator
  • Able to deliver under pressure and prioritise work accordingly
  • Extremely confident and adept at product presentations

 

CONTRACT OR FUNCTION SPECIFIC

  • The role will have a competitive salary package and a OTE commission package
  • The role will include a company car, mobile phone, lap top and other business tools that will be required
  • A full valid driving licence is a requirement

Internal Sales

The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing sales across existing customers and developing new business across the UK. You will work closely with the existing field based sales team and be responsible for internal product demonstrations and managing product campaigns using the CRM system.

  • To manage and be responsible for all internal sales activities including our permanent fixed solar street lights, our solar tower lights, solar CCTV and hybrid powered generators
  • Promote, demonstrate and present the many USP’s of our range of new sustainable technology
  • To work closely with the Marketing team to manage and deliver marketing campaigns
  • To carry out any other duties as deemed necessary by the company.

The HS2 Business development role is a field-based position and you will liaise closely with the
existing Rail team with specific focus on developing rentals within the wider HS2 project. You will be
responsible for developing relationships at all levels of HS2, Network Rail and their Alliance
customers.

Software/Development Engineer

Prolectric is a pioneer in "intelligent" off-grid solar battery powered technology, including industrial solar lighting towers, solar power banks and solar street lights, part of the FTSE 250 Hill and Smith Group plc, Prolectric is now seeking to appoint a Software Development Engineer to join the company’s Product Development team based in Clevedon, near Bristol.

The role is expected to involve:

  • Further development of the company’s IoT portals (both lighting and power based platforms)
  • Development/integration (e.g. via APIs) of product and process software tools
  • Support for the above (day to day maintenance, inputs to training, documentation etc.)
  • Inputs to other development projects, not necessarily software related

Essential programming skills in the first instance include:

  • Experience with NodeJS, html, css and Javascript (for IoT portal work)

Desirable other skills include:

  • Experience with IoT technology
  • Experience with electronics/electronic control systems and firmware development
  • Experience of secure coding techniques
  • Understanding of OWASP
  • Working with SIMs, 4G etc
  • Knowledge of AWS, JSON, C & Agile
  • Experience in an electro-mechanical product development environment
  • Experience with App development
  • Hands-on/practical skills
  • Project and time management skills

We anticipate that the successful candidate may be a recent graduate, or preferably a graduate with 1-5 years of experience in a relevant field. It is accepted that there may be some 'learning on the job' (e.g. of new programming languages). Above all, we are seeking an individual with creative flair, capacity to learn, and a passion for excellence, who is able to deliver in the context of an exciting, growing business environment.
