Meet The Expert - Javier Granados

What is your current role, and what are your main responsibilities?

I am an Engineer at Prolectric. Working in the R&D team, my primary objective is to contribute to bringing new technology solutions and new design features to our products that align with our client’s needs and expectations.

Moreover, I work on telematics that enables all our power and lighting products to communicate with our portals, where customers can monitor, manage and control their assets remotely.  I specialise in diagnosing and resolving issues that may arise with the devices incorporated within our products, ensuring that they function optimally and provide reliable performance.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My typical day at Prolectric involves a dynamic blend of designing devices, testing and finding solutions to complex problems, and providing remote servicing for our products. I actively engage with my colleagues to foster collaborative problem-solving and generate innovative solutions alongside these technical tasks.

Overall, each day brings new challenges and continuous learning, which I find rewarding and contributes to the success of our company.

What are some of the most exciting projects you have worked on recently?

One of the most exciting projects I’m currently involved in is the development of a new PCB design for our hub and the implementation of communication protocols.  This hub plays a crucial role as it acts as the central device responsible for collecting essential information and executing actions remotely from our portal.

Besides, collaborating with a team of skilled professionals during this project has been incredibly fulfilling. We have shared insights, brainstormed solutions, and leveraged each other's expertise to create cutting-edge designs.

What common misconceptions about your industry would you like to dispel?

Many people believe that the initial costs and the maintenance of solar and solar hybrid power solutions make it expensive. But in fact, the diesel and refuelling labour cost savings make the payback period highly favourable against diesel alternatives, and that’s without the carbon emission savings! Here at Prolectric, we have invested in developing unique technologies, that optimise energy use which has helped to make our products a cost-effective choice.
