About the Head of Sales Role

Crucially, the Head of Sales is responsible for:

  • Meeting customer acquisition and revenue objectives.
  • The successful execution of key growth strategies, tactics and actions in order to achieve financial targets.
  • Building long-lasting and strong relationships with customers.
  • Understanding of customer trends.
  • Playing a critical role in the product development and innovation cycle.

You have commercial acumen, the ability to inspire the team and our customers and will ultimately possess a deep understanding of the customer base, the competitive market, and the ability to analyse sales and rehire performance.

Leadership/Coaching: The primary role of the Head of Sales is to lead and motivate the sales/rehire team. You will be responsible for providing weekly/monthly/annual sales and rehire targets for the department, examining growth opportunities, enabling sales improvements, product mix development, and taking responsibility for the department’s performance against targets.

Using your expertise and experience, you will introduce sales best practice (e.g., stakeholder mapping, consultative selling approaches), coaching the team to develop close and lasting customer relationships that foster loyalty and advocacy of Prolectric’s products and services. 

You will manage the activities and departmental calendar regarding trading priorities inclusive of launches, promotions and campaign activities to maximise sales opportunities.

In a cross-functional capacity the Head of Sales introduces new brands and categories to the market by leading the sales team in product launches.

Strategy: The Head of Sales plays a major strategic role in the sales department. You will implement sales/rehire strategies that further the department’s agenda and drive enhanced revenue generation. You will be identifying and lead on the roadmap that will lead to achievement of the department and business goals. Along with the senior management, you will create and implement sales action plans, setting KPI’s for the team and wider business.

Knowledge/Relationships/Opportunity: The Head of Sales manages many of the key relationships on behalf of the business. You will be natural at building strong relationships with the external partners and customers, regularly interacting with them by attending scheduled review meetings, workshops, events and seminars, and playing an active role in industry organisations.

You will bring extensive experience of negotiating complex sales contracts, in a rental/hire, construction or manufacturing business that lever a variety of tradables to deliver win-win outcomes. You will also coach and support your team to develop these skills.

Analytics: The Head of Sales utilises analytics tools and works with the team/colleagues to undertake detailed analyses of sales and rehire performance to provide reporting on strategy successes, weaknesses, and opportunities to senior management. Through various research and analyses, you will identify areas of improvement, establishing actionable insights to develop plans and goals for the improvement of sales and business profits.

You will monitor and observe the brand and its competitors, researching the latest market best practices to identifying new trends ahead of the curve to provide the business a competitive advantage.

Collaboration: The Head of Sales position is highly collaborative; working closely with the Product Development, Marketing and Operations departments - creating product intelligence, for example, product/brand affinities, conducting trend analysis, and ensuring that these are aligned to support and drive sales and conversion.

In this collaboration, you will also support the development of products from conceptualisation through to testing and launch, ensuring market needs are met and sales strategies are developed to maximise sales opportunities.

Summary of Key responsibilities

  • Meeting customer acquisition and revenue objectives.
  • Own all plans and strategies for developing business that ensures the sales team achieve their annual sales goals.
  • Define, articulate and implement Prolectric’s strategy for selling products and services (e.g. SaaS).
  • In collaboration with Marketing, establish the inbound lead requirements needed to meet your sales objectives (e.g. volume of leads required to achieve sale conversion rates that will deliver revenue goals).
  • 'Land and expand’: build a process and funnel, from initial reach out, lead, onboarding, activation, and expansion of customer accounts.
  • Develop the sales plan, prepare forecasts and KPI reporting for senior management for use in organisational planning, financial forecasting, budget setting and strategic planning.
  • Create and roll out sales campaigns including, best practice materials.
  • Monitoring the performance of the UK sales and rehire teams by setting and reviewing goals and identifying and delivering any training needs.
  • Devising and implementing systems to keep staff motivated and maintain a high level of morale.
  • Recruiting and training sales staff and ensuring that the department is appropriately resourced.
  • Creating sales aids; including training manuals, objection handling documents, product knowledge sheets, high-quality presentations.
  • Researching, analysing and setting price points to maximise sales and maintain healthy profit margins.
  • Identifying opportunities by keeping track of competitor activity.
  • Using industry knowledge and experience to identify potential new markets and increase the market share.
  • Maintaining sales records and design reports to ensure that the data collected is being utilised effectively (e.g. data accuracy in CRM). Provide full visibility into the sales pipeline at every stage of development.

Skills & Experience

  • A higher qualification in Marketing, Business Management, Business Administration, or any other related field is desirable. The equivalent of this in working experience is essential.
  • Experience of working within a Manufacturer, Rental/Hire or Construction business in a senior sales position within a growing and dynamic business environment.
  • Proven successes in leading a group of sales personnel toward growth and enhanced sales volumes and revenue generation, while displaying exceptional leadership skills and confidence.
  • Confident in evaluating product/market situations and analysing raw data and information, transforming it into actionable sales strategies, tactics and approaches.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to present complex information in clear, plain-spoken, simple, and convincing terms (verbal and written).
  • Microsoft Office: high proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Experience of using CRM software to enhance sales performance.
  • Demonstrable experience in successfully managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level, especially with the sales team, the board, marketing and product development.
  • Keen interest in renewables and sustainability and curiosity of other emerging trends.
  • A team player, able to play an active part in a management team that creates and implements a shared vision for the future and works together collaboratively and effectively.
  • Self-motivated. Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities effectively in a fast-paced business environment with strict deadlines.
